UPCOMING: GALILEO at FLEXCON 2026: Unlocking Industrial Flexibility in the Real World

On 24 September 2026, the GALILEO project will host the special session “Unlocking Industrial Flexibility: What Works in the Real World?” at FLEXCON 2026 CO-CREATE FLEXIBLE ENERGY, from 09:45 to 10:45 at the Queen Elisabeth Center.

What does it really take to make industrial processes flexible? Steel, non-ferrous metals, process industries, food production, and data centres all face different operational constraints and opportunities.

Drawing on five real industrial cases from the Belgian GALILEO project, the session will share concrete lessons on where flexibility can be found, what limits its use, and how storage, process adaptation, electricity market participation, and smarter market design can turn technical flexibility potential into real value.

The session brings together insights from industry and research, focusing on real operational challenges and the practical steps needed to unlock industrial flexibility.
